Donald Trump had made a powerful statement against Iran on February 28, 2026, following the prompt by Israeli PM Netanyahu to strike Iran over Iran' nuclear development. As a result, Israel joined the mission given their leaders' perception of the nuclear threat from Iran to the Jewish state as existential.

Before that, President Obama concluded an agreement with Iran that limited its nuclear activities. But Trump didn't just walk this one deal, he also denounced a lot of the other measures that Obama's administration had adopted. From Threat against the Nuclear Weapon to the Regime Change

At first, the Americans' plan was simply to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. The US did not even mention regime change as a goal of their campaign.

Iran, the clericals are the main power in the whole country, was never friendly toward the USA after the Islamic Revolution in 1979. The Islamic Revolution was started by ayatollah Ali Khomeni and it was at that time the Shah, Raza Shah Pehlevi, decided to leave the country. • Danger of regional conflict: Strikes and other forms of attacks pose a risk of the escalation into a war, with the whole region potentially affected.
• Election campaign factor: The prolonged warfare may become a very important issue for the President before the U.S. midterm elections.

In fact, President Trump is involved in a conflict which has no clear end. As Iran thinks that she can face sanctions besides even more military pressure, and China is creating an obstacle for Washington through its friendly relations with Iran, the initial move of Trump to prevent Iran’s nuclear activities has changed and now it is a strategic issue involving all four: Israelis, Iranians, Americans, and ​‍​‌‍​‍‌Chinese.
